My name is Steve, I am an engineer and I work here in downtown Wichita. I enjoy working downtown. I also enjoy the variety of food offered by local restaurants. I really like that there are many places to eat that are within walking distance of my office. However, I have always been irked by the lack of a comprehensive restaurant guide dedicated to eating downtown. I know there are any number of restaurant directories for Wichita, but I thought it would be nice to have one that focused on the downtown area - so I decided to make one.

You must realize that I have no formal training in HTML, or any other web publishing languages for that matter, and that this website is created and maintained by myself alone. That being the case my number one criteria for creating this site is that it must be kept simple and cheap. I hope that you find the lack of flashy and annoying advertisements refreshing. I am currently generating no personal revenue from this site. Also, as I state on the home page, I am not affiliated with any businesses you may find on these pages and I require NOTHING from any of them to be included on my site. This is my second criteria for this site: that there will be absolutely NO fees associated with being mentioned here-in. This allows for inclusion of any and all establishments as there are no advertising charges collected by me. You will find many other directories on the web for eating in Wichita, but I am fairly certain that they all generate advertising revenue, and because of that they may not include ALL the eating establishments, since some may not wish to purchase the ad space. Now don't get the idea that I am doing this entirely out of the goodness of my own humble heart. I need an income as much as anyone else, so I hope to someday be able to generate some monetary supplement from my little website, but as I stated previously, I will not require a fee from the merchants featured here-in or those who patronize my directory. I hope to eventually include a few small and unobtrusive Google ads and I also have added a 'Donate' button to allow for anyone who might feel so inclined to submit donations through the site. But that is the entirety of my money generating efforts, and again there will never be any advertising fees or contracts.

My hope for the format of this site is that it will not only be very simple, especially as far as programming goes, but also that it will be easily navigable and chock full of good information. My intention is to make it easy for someone who works here in downtown Wichita, as I do, to visit my site and be able to browse a very thorough list of places they might like to eat at lunchtime. I plan on maintaining three lists - Alphabetical, Location and Cuisine type. I will list all the important information of the business, provide several high quality photos of the place and a copy of the menu, and link to a Google map and to the businesses website, if they have one. My original thought was to have a couple photos of the exterior and a couple from the interior, however since the only time I have to take photos is at lunch time, I will not be posting any interior photos that I take, since I do not feel like getting permission from everyone in the restaurant at the time to publish their photo. I will however ask that if you are visiting my website as an owner and would like to, you can email me a high quality photo from your empty dining room, or any other photo you would like me to post, and I will add them to the site. This way I will avoid any issues with publishing photos of third parties.

Well, I hope that is enough of an introduction. I will, of course, make many changes as I see fit. I have also set up a comments page - I hope you will let me know what you think of my little project and also any places you like to eat that I may have missed. And please remember, I am the sole maintainor of this website, any typos, errors, discrepancies, etc. are my doing. Please feel free to correct or admonish me through the email below. Also, if you find your establishment has been mentioned here and you would rather it not be, just let me know and I will remove it.
